Overview
Contact Sheet (the "App") is a photography critique app, available on iOS and Android, that uses AI to analyze and annotate your photos. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights as a user. The App is operated by an independent developer ("we", "us").
Data We Collect
Photos You Submit for Critique
- You select photos from your device's photo library to submit for AI critique.
- On iOS, photos are sent to OpenAI to generate both the written critique and the annotated image.
- On Android, photos are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the written critique, and to Google's Gemini API to generate the annotated image.
- We do not store your photos on any server we operate. The returned critique and annotated image are saved locally on your device in the App's private storage.
App Data
- Your photo rolls, critiques, scores, and annotated images are stored locally on your device.
- If you enable Backup within the App, this data is synced to your own personal cloud storage account (iCloud Drive on iOS, Google Drive on Android). We do not have access to your cloud storage.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information.
- We do not operate analytics or crash reporting services.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
Google User Data (Android)
Google Drive Access
On Android, if you choose to enable Backup, the App requests access to Google Drive so it can store and restore your Contact Sheet data (photo rolls, critiques, scores, annotated images) to and from your personal Drive account.
- What we access: only the files Contact Sheet creates within your Drive. We do not browse, read, or modify any other files in your Drive.
- How we use it: solely to back up and restore your in-app data at your request.
- Where it goes: Drive data is transferred directly between your device and Google's servers. We do not copy, cache, or transmit it to any server operated by us or by any third party.
- Human access: no human at Contact Sheet reads your Drive data. It is never used to develop, improve, or train any AI or machine-learning model.
- Sharing: we do not sell, transfer, or share Google user data with any third party except as necessary to provide the backup feature itself (i.e., between your device and Google Drive).
- Revoking access: you can revoke Contact Sheet's access to your Google Drive at any time via your Google Account permissions page, or by signing out within the App.
Third-Party Services
OpenAI (iOS)
When you request an AI critique on iOS, your selected photo is transmitted to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's handling of this data is governed by their own policies. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Anthropic Claude (Android)
When you request an AI critique on Android, your selected photo is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the written critique. Anthropic's handling of this data is governed by their own policies. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Google Gemini (Android)
When you request an AI critique on Android, your selected photo is also transmitted to Google's Gemini API to generate the annotated version of the image. Google's handling of this data is governed by their own policies. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Apple iCloud (iOS)
If you enable Backup on iOS, App data is stored in your personal iCloud Drive. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Google AdMob
Contact Sheet displays rewarded ads powered by Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and use certain device information, including:
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android)
- IP address and general location
- Device type and operating system
This data is used by Google to serve relevant ads. We do not share your photos or personal app data with Google AdMob. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device's privacy settings.
EEA / UK Users — Advertising Consent
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent for personalized advertising on first launch, as required by the GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive.
- You may accept or decline personalized ads. If you decline, you will still see non-personalized ads.
- You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via Settings → Privacy Options inside the App.

Photo Library Access
Contact Sheet requests access to your photo library solely to allow you to select photos for critique. We do not upload your entire library or access any photos other than those you explicitly choose.
Data Retention and Deletion
All data (photos, critiques, scores) is stored locally on your device and, if you enable Backup, in your personal cloud storage. You can delete this data at any time by:
- Removing individual items within the App.
- Uninstalling the App to clear local storage.
- Deleting the Contact Sheet backup folder from your iCloud Drive or Google Drive.
- Revoking Google Drive access in your Google Account permissions (Android).
Children's Privacy
Contact Sheet is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced in-app where practical.
